Medical Librarian Jacksonville, FL, United States and 1 more (Hybrid) JOB DESCRIPTION Nemours is seeking a Medical Librarian to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Jacksonville or Orlando, FL. The Medical Librarian, Academic Support will serve as liaison to our Academic and Research Faculty, providing publication content management support and literature searching services throughout the enterprise. In this role the librarian will work with Nemours authors to verify their publications are indexed and identified appropriately for internal and external reviewers. The librarian will also assist in identifying appropriate journals for publication and work with faculty to monitor their progress. This role works as part of the Education team to integrate library services with education initiatives including publication and research support, evidence-based medicine tools, continuing medical education, evidence-based practice, as well as providing library services to meet the needs of the organization’s clinical staff. This position reports to the Manager of Library Services. Nemours Medical Librarians provide reference, instructional and interlibrary loan assistance to Nemours Associates and affiliated users. Along with customer service and patron education, this role provides planning and academic faculty support for research and clinical needs. Essential Functions: • Develops processes and assists academic and research faculty manage publications and information systems o Supports faculty in the creation and maintenance of faculty profiles for internal and external systems. o Provides content management in terms of verifying and authenticating publications are assigned to profiles correctly and efficiently. o Assists authors in determining best journals/ publications for manuscript submission. • Provides Instructional and Customer Service Support o Provides remote instruction and training in the use of library resources and services through group and individual training. o Creates a visible presence for the library by serving as a member of multidisciplinary teams. • Manages Health Science Resources o Critically evaluates databases, Internet resources, electronic information services and products. o Organizes and disseminates the most authoritative electronic resources, books, and journals to meet Nemours information needs. • Maintains Library IS and Technology o Provides education to associates and interacts with vendors and developers to problem solve content management database issues. o Assists in the development and maintenance of the user-facing library web portal. o Troubleshoot user access to library resources, deferring to the Help Desk as needed. • Develops and assists in managing Library Information Services o Performs reference interviews and computerized literature searching, utilizing complex point-of-care and research focused database systems. o Assists in collection development and management, in accordance with organizational goals and needs and operating within budget parameters. Performance Skills: • Ability to work in-person and virtually to support, train, and educate physicians and biomedical researchers in achieving their faculty objectives and goals. • Skilled at performing reference interviews and working with a variety of patrons across multiple disciplines. • Capacity to search multiple medical, nursing, and scientific databases appropriately and efficiently. • Skilled at teaching database and resource usage to patrons in-person and via remote interfaces. • Works independently; thinks pro-actively. • Manages resources wisely, including time, talent, and knowledge. • Responds and adapts to change. • Minimal Docline/ Interlibrary Loan experience Requirements: Master’s of Library and Information Science, or Master’s of Library Science 5-7 years of progressive experience, preferably in an academic, hospital, or biomedical research library/ system.
