Position Summary:
Serves as a Reference and Community Health Librarian by serving as a subject matter expert related to library resources and systems that support the community with health and wellbeing knowledge and outreach. Additionally, serves as a coordinator to establish outreach opportunities and facilitator to educate the community on library resources available.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions

• Provides in-depth consumer health reference services to patients, caregivers, and team members.
• Provides instruction on community health resources and evaluating credibility and quality of consumer health information.
• Maintains the community health library web portal and subject guides.
• Works with internal and external stakeholders to identify funding, outreach, and collaboration opportunities.
• Conducts community health literature searches.
• Assists users in the general use library resources, including its electronic and print resources, library facilities and equipment.
• Evaluates, recommends, and participates in the selection of community health resources. Provides document location and retrieval services.
• Develops and delivers workshops and classes online and in-person.
• Organizes, produces, and hosts webinars about consumer health information.
• Conducts outreach and develops promotional materials to increase participation in the program.
• Assesses and evaluates classes and programs and makes adjustments and improvements.
• Provides reference support for the Health Sciences Library staff on an as-needed basis.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

• Assists with the budget process as needed.
• Assists in the planning, organization, management, and performance of technical, reference, and audiovisual services.
• Assists manager with special projects as required.
• Assists manager and systems librarian in providing computer resources.
• Participates in the development and preparation of policies, procedures, organization, budget, and short- & long-term programs.
• Participates in the regular evaluation of the department’s goals and services.
• Participates in all areas of library services including selection, acquisition, processing, cataloging, document delivery, and inventory.
• Participates in outreach networking of library services.
• Participates in the promotion and representation of the library including some travel to Orlando Health service area.
• Participates in local, regional, and national information networks (i.e., National Network of Libraries of Medicine) that support Orlando Health in its mission to serve the community.
• Serves on hospital committees and at community events as needed.
• Documents statistical information.
• Assists with developing Power Point presentations for Orlando Health team member speaking engagements.
• Provides supporting resources and documents for speaking engagement presentations.
• Assists with reviewing, editing, and writing department reports and assignments.
• Assists in supervising and training technical and clerical staff.
• Assumes responsibility of library operation in the absence of the manager when required or requested.
• Assumes the responsibility for professional growth and continuing education.

Qualifications:
Education/Training
Master’s Degree in Library Science from a library school accredited by the American Library Association or Master’s Degree in Public Health from an accredited program

Licensure/Certification
None.

Experience
Two (2) years of post-degree healthcare, public health, research, and/or library related experience.
Two (2) years or more experience with writing/editing skills.
