Dear Readers, This month's feature was received from Jessica Daly at the Clifford E. Graese Community Health Library in Orlando, FL. See below for her story about the innovative partnership between her library and the Seacreast Studio of Orlando Health-Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital. We welcome submissions about happenings from all member libraries. Please send submissions to fhslanews@gmail.com. -Best, Janet & Tim The Clifford E. Graese Community Health Library has partnered with the Seacrest Studio of Orlando Health - Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital to share the free health resources and services available to pediatric patients and their families. Through their partnership with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, they launched a Seacrest Studio at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer. The studio enables a way to support our patients’ creative and artistic needs through radio, television, and new media. Orlando Health Arnold Palmer is one of only 11 pediatric hospitals in the U.S. — and the only one in Florida — to host an innovative Seacrest Studio location. Through this state-of-the-art multimedia studio, complete with sets, cameras, microphones and a soundboard, children and guests share the spotlight with musical and celebrity guests, as well as other patients and studio interns. Patients can also call down to the studio via their hospital room phone to engage in events they are watching on their screen. Jessica Daly, Consumer Health Librarian, was first asked to be a guest on the live weekday morning program which led to her being asked back monthly for her own 45-minute program. There are many different things done during the program such as trivia called "Are You Smarter Than a Librarian", sharing free online health resources, and reading children's books. During each session, Jessica shares her contact information and how she can assist and empower both patients and families with the health information they need most. Comments are closed.
