Registration

The FHSLA Executive Board is excited to formally invite you to this year’s Annual Meeting: Fostering Truth and Communication in Digital Health Communities, being held in Tampa, FL.

In our increasingly connected world, digital platforms are integral to shaping health communication and public understanding of medical information. However, the growing challenges of misinformation, predatory publishing, and unreliable health advice online threaten the integrity of health information.

This year’s meeting will bring together librarians and information professionals to discuss strategies for promoting accuracy, transparency, and trust in digital health spaces. Join us for a critical conversation focused on strengthening our ability to foster truth, integrity, and transparency in health communication and research.

The event will feature distinguished guest speakers, including information professionals who study and teach misinformation, as well as a dynamic panel on predatory publishing, where professionals working to combat this issue will share their insights. Attendees will have opportunities to join us for a welcome reception with access to the Tampa Bay History Center's local treasures, participate in a mindfulness session, network with peers, and receive valuable updates from member institutions and the Network of the National Library of Medicine. Additionally, poster presentations will highlight the latest initiatives within our own community.

We are thrilled about this year’s event and look forward to seeing as many members as possible. If you haven’t renewed your membership yet, it’s not too late to stay informed and be part of this exciting meeting as well as year-round programming. If you aren't already a member, you are still invited to join us! Renew your membership today and stay connected (even if you can't attend the meeting)!
Please visit the FHSLA website for registration and visit details.

What's Happening in Your Library?

We know there are new and great things happening at your library - come share! Participants will be asked to share up to 3 slides and to present for up to 3 minutes. Has the year gone by so fast you're not sure what's new? Here's some questions to get you thinking:
  • What recent acquisitions or other resources have been added to your collection? How have they benefitted your users?
  • Has any new technology technology been acquired? How has it impacted user engagement or enhanced their use?
  • What are some new initiatives or collaborations that the library has engaged in? This could be new projects with new partners, new projects with long-time collaborators, or maybe a re-vamped project with a long-time collaborator!
  • Is your team doing any research, publishing, or conference presentations that you're excited about?
  • Have there been any new space updates or improvements? How has it improved the user experience?
  • Are there any new trends or challenges that the library is working on responses to? For example, is your library doing something related to artificial intelligence that you're excited about?

Poster Presentations

We are looking for posters on any research or work projects you have completed recently. Do you have a poster that you will be presenting at MLA, ACRL, or another conference? It will be an excellent opportunity to get a little practice presenting before the big meeting! Poster guidelines:
  • Poster submissions are digital, either a PowerPoint slide or PDF.
  • The presentation will be 5-8 minutes.
  • The presenter will have a laptop, mic, and projector to present the poster.

Please visit the FHSLA website for registration and visit details. We can’t wait to see you there!

If you are interested in presenting a What's Happening in Your Library or a poster, choose yes in the registration form for the meeting, and Roxann Mouratidis will contact you with details before the annual meeting.
